Terry Branstad Collapses During Tour Of DuPont Pioneer Facility Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) collapsed Monday while touring a facility at DuPont Pioneer in Johnson, Iowa, according to the Des Moines Register.

According to The Washington Post's Robert Costa, an aide said Branstad, who has been suffering from a cold, was taken to Methodist hospital in Des Moines. Branstad was reportedly "conscious and alert" while being taken to the hospital.



Iowa Governor’s Office spokesman Jimmy Centersreleased the following statement on Branstad's condition:



Gov. Branstad fell ill at an event today at DuPont Pioneer. An ambulance was called and he was transported to Methodist hospital in Des Moines. The governor is conscious and alert and was so during the transport to the hospital. During the transport, paramedics took the governor’s vitals and initial tests indicate that the spell was caused by a seasonal illness. The governor had been suffering from the effects of a cold.
