Arthur Neal Missing: Michigan Lottery Winner Disappears Michigan authorities are asking for the public's help in locating an 86-year-old Detroit man, who recently won $20,000 in a lottery game and has now gone missing.
A spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department on Tuesday told The Huffington Post that Arthur Neal Jr. was last seen at his home on Dec. 20.
Neal’s family reportedly told police that he won the lottery the day before he mysteriously disappeared. Authorities said Tuesday that they have not yet been able to determine if Neal collected his winnings prior to his disappearance.
None of the missing man’s family members were available for comment Tuesday morning.
In a Monday interview with Detroit’s WWJ News, Neal’s granddaughter, Lawanda Marshall, said it is out of character for him to take off without notifying someone, especially during the holidays.
Marshall said Neal’s house was in disarray and his front door was ajar, leading family members to speculate someone might have targeted him because of his winnings.
“It bothers me greatly because I don’t think that’s the type of information that should have seeped out – if that was the case – especially [in] that neighborhood,” Marshall told WWJ.
Neal is described as an African American male, approximately, 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 160 pounds. He has gray hair, with a full beard and mustache. He works in masonry and is reportedly in good physical and mental health.
In addition to Neal, his 1998 black Cadillac Deville, with a Michigan license plate of BMZ-7786, is also missing.
Anyone with information on Arthur Neal’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detroit Police at (313) 596-5640.
