As the artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the native Floridian presides over the world-renowned dance company, which has been thrilling audiences since 1958. A former member of the Parsons Dance Company and alumni of the Juilliard school, Battle honed his own skills as a formidable dancer and then a sought-after choreographer before founding his very own Battleworks Dance Company, which officially debuted in 2002.
