Woman, 3 Grandkids, Feared Dead In House Fire WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities in Ohio say they fear a woman and her three grandchildren staying with her for Christmas are inside the remains of a house engulfed by fire.
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says the single-story ranch-style house was destroyed and the site was very hot and unstable more than five hours after the blaze was reported just after 4 a.m. Friday. He says family members are being informed of what he calls "a tragic, tragic" fire.
County and local fire departments are at the scene with state fire marshal's investigators near Washington Court House some 40 miles southwest of Columbus.
There is no immediate word on what may have caused the blaze.
