Debra Messing Thinks Her 11-Year-Old Son Is 'Probably The Funniest Human Being' She Knows Debra Messing sparkles onscreen as a badass NYPD homicide detective in NBC's "The Mysteries Of Laura," but offscreen, the mom of 11-year-old Roman is just like any other mom, toting her son to sports games and cheering him on from the sidelines.
"I am all up in sports now, and it's all because of my son," she told HuffPost Live's Nancy Redd in a Thursday conversation. "We go to Ranger games as often as we can. We are so excited about the playoffs. He's into baseball -- he's in two leagues -- and I was a soccer mom when he was three. Your life is completely changed once you make a little person."
The "Will & Grace" actress considers her son to be "probably the funniest human being" she knows, but also finds him to be among the wisest.
"Now he's old enough that he speaks about the way he sees the world, and I guess it's fascinating to watch him figure out the world and then hear him express his perception of it," Messing explained. "You're always learning from other people, and I think the first knee-jerk reaction is to assume you're not going to learn anything from a child who hasn't really lived yet, but there's always things coming out of his mouth that are very profound to me."
"I'm sure they don't mean anything to him," she continued, "but as a grown woman, they mean a lot to me."
