Ex-Disney chairman launches Dick Cook Studios

Former Disney chairman Dick Cook launched on Monday his own entertainment company that will focus on family-friendly movies and television, according to Variety. "I am thrilled to formally announce the launch of Dick Cook Studios," Cook said during its launch at the Beijing International Film Festival. The LA-based Dick Cook Studios is also starting off with a $150 million investment from Citic Guoan Group Co. Ltd., a division of the Chinese conglomerate Citic Group, says Variety. As chairman of Walt Disney Studios from 2002 to 2009, Cook oversaw the release of 60 films that grossed more than $100 million each domestically, according to the announcement of his new venture.
